A beautiful, long-lived tornado occurred on May 23rd, 2025, north of Akron, Colorado. This day held the promise of big storms, large hail, and a modest/low tornado chance. It was the culmination of several key boundary interactions/storm behaviors that produced one of the most beautiful tornadoes I have ever witnessed in my nearly two decades of chasing. Here, in this image, we see the final stage, the rope out, of the Akron, Colorado tornado from Highway 63.
